ABOUT US
Lococo’s has been an active member in the wholesale business since the 1940s. We have been a family run-business since
1906 and are well equipped to provide efficient, diligent, and
quick service to our clients. Our customers (in most cases, chefs) needs come first, and our order system
greatly reflects that mindset. Our sales team is available and prepared to handle all orders when necessary,
including the night before delivery.
Our buyer, Kevin, visits the market daily, hand-picking our fruits and vegetables and testing them personally.
Kevin has been in the business for over 50 years, and with those years comes a wealth of knowledge and a
lengthy list of close relationships with major suppliers across North America. This means Lococo’s has direct
insight into product quality and price changes, allowing us the ability to be selective about what we carry
while also maintaining a competitive price for our customers.
Lococo’s has always been a strong supporter of local farmers and products. This, along with our FOB
buying, provides the best products available all year long, not only to our retail customers, but to our
wholesale clients as well.
OUR COMMUNTY
Being a local business ourselves, Lococo’s understands the importance of community. Our stores carry
local products and support local growers at every chance we get. We support local charities on a monthly
basis, doing our best to make sure we are putting as much value and money back into the community that
supports us.
OUR STORY
Lococo’s all began with one man, a fruit stand, and a horse and buggy. Michael Lococo, an Italian immigrant
and the founder of Lococo’s, came to Canada in 1906 and quickly made a name for himself in the world of
fresh fruits and vegetables. Michael would spend his summers in NOTL, where he had a small fruit stand
set up selling fresh produce to the local community. He would disperse his time between managing the fruit
stand and in transit - on his horse and buggy - across the border to purchase product. Eventually Michaels
sons, Joe, Charlie and Anthony (Tunny) joined their dad and expanded the business from a small fruit stand
to a wholesale supplier for the Niagara region. In the late 1950s, the brothers bought the infamous
warehouse located on Victoria Avenue, thus allowing them the space to grow the wholesale business
exponentially. In 1976, Tunny’s son, Danny Lococo, took over ownership and quickly began making positive
waves within the company. In the 1980’s, Lococo’s main business was wholesale, and Danny, being the risk
taker that he is, saw an opportunity to expand the brand. Following in the footsteps of his Grandfather
Michael, Danny started by opening a small store in the front of the warehouse, selling only fresh fruits and
vegetables. After seeing the success of the retail in Niagara Falls, Danny decided to expand this portion of
the business, opening a store on Barton Street in Hamilton, Ontario in 2006.
Over the last decade Lococo’s has continued to grow through an expansion of the Niagara Falls store and
the opening of two more locations; one on Nebo Road in Hamilton (2012); and one in Brantford, Ontario
(2017), therefore securing Lococo’s as one of the top grocery stores in the region. Simultaneously, the
wholesale business has continued to develop while proudly servicing hundreds of local restaurants and
businesses in Southern Ontario.
Today Lococo’s is still owned and operated by Danny Lococo, alongside his son, Adam. With over 100 years
of experience in the produce industry, we feel we can confidently mark ourselves as
FRESH EXPERTS.
Lococo’s has remained in the family from 1906 until today, sharing industry knowledge and experience from
generation to generation.
